Township Parks

David L Anthony Park

In honor of David L. Anthony, our former Manager for 24 ½ years, we have named our series of parks:

The David L. Anthony Park System in Washington Township.

Through his leadership, vision, and guidance along with the tireless efforts of the men in the townships employ we now enjoy a vibrant and enjoyable park system here in Washington Township.

David took great delight in seeing our parks grow and improve for the enjoyment of our residents and guests. We are the beneficiaries of these efforts and are very grateful and honored to have his name permanently attached to this park system.

Park Rentals

If you are having a graduation party, or an upcoming family reunion, think about renting one of the Township parks pavilions. Your party goers will be safe and have an enjoyable time. Please call the Township office for more information or to make a reservation. If you are having a large gathering, you are responsible for supplying at your cost portable toilets to accommodate the size of your party.

Unfortunately, Wainer Park and Peninsula Park experience some vandalism, usually in the Spring and Fall. Because of this vandalism, Washington Township has had to take measures to protect taxpayer investments in these Parks.  Gates have been installed across Park entrance roads and are closed as deemed necessary. Please contact the Township Office if you need entry.

Let’s Move Outside Program

The Facts

Let’s Move! is a comprehensive initiative, launched by the First Lady, dedicated to solving the problem of childhood obesity in a generation so that kids born today will grow up healthier and able to pursue their dreams. This is an ambitious goal. But it can be done. Combining comprehensive strategies with common sense, Let’s Move! is about putting children on the path to a healthy future starting with their earliest months and years and continuing throughout their lives. Giving parents helpful information and fostering environments that support healthy choices. Providing healthier foods in our schools. Ensuring that every community has access to healthy, affordable food. And, helping kids become more physically active.

Consider a donation to our Parks

To celebrate Arbor Day in 2016 Andover Bank of Edinboro graciously donated a beautiful new addition to Wainer Park.  This tree is part of the continuing improvements of this hidden gem in Washington Township.  We encourage you to visit the park and watch it GROW and THRIVE just like this recreational area has to offer.  Thank you to Andvoer Bank for their generous donation.
